The Man Behind the Chair
Kyle Wason is the founder and Master Barber behind The Cut Above of SRQ, and a Florida-licensed barber since May 2022 (license BB8905950). The Cut Above of SRQ took over Deborah's Barber Shop at Palmer Ranch in 2026, same corner, same attention and same chairs, under new ownership. He trained at Manatee Technical College, where he was inducted into the National Honor Society, and he built this shop around the details a good barber never skips: a hot towel before the blade, a straight razor for the line-up, and a cut fitted to the person in the chair rather than to a trend.
A Sarasota native and graduate of Sarasota Military Academy, Kyle designed The Cut Above as a place where tradition is cherished and artistry thrives. It is a sanctuary for anyone who appreciates the finer details, with conversation that feels like catching up with an old friend.
With a commitment to serving his community, Kyle ensures that every cut, fade, and shave reflects his unwavering attention to detail. Whether you seek to maintain a timeless style or explore a fresh look, you can trust that you are in the capable hands of a master barber.
